Dog Wardens Plan Door-To-Door Canvass In Delaware County

Multiple wardens will canvass Delaware County in April. Residents with unlicensed or unvaccinated pets face fines of up to $300 per animal.

Is your dog properly licensed? Vaccinated for rabies? You better double check.

The Bureau of Dog Law Enforcement will be conducting a license and vaccination canvas across Delaware County this month. The canvas is planned for April 18, according to sources.

"Multiple wardens" will be going door-to-door throughout Delaware County to check the status of residents' dog licenses and rabies vaccinations, according to Media Borough.

Residents with unlicensed dogs face fines of up to $300 per animal.

Owners of non-vaccinated pets can also be fined up to $300 per animal. Under Pennsylvania law, dogs and cats three months or older must have a current rabies vaccination.

In Pennsylvania, all dogs three months or older must be licensed annually by Jan. 1.

An annual license is $8.50. If your dog is spayed or neutered, the annual fee is $6.50. Seniors can get licenses for $4.50 for spayed and neutered pets and for $6.50 for pet that aren't spayed or neutered.

Lifetime licenses cost $31.50 for spayed and neutered pets and $51.50 for pet that aren't spayed or neutered.
