"Notable Reprobates," the latest work by Joseph Howard Tyson, examines the pathological phenomena of serial killing and mass murder. It provides detailed case studies of notorious multi-murderers Elizabeth Bathory, H. H. Holmes (buried in Yeadon's Holy Cross Cemetery), Belle Gunness, Ted Bundy (who lived in Philadelphia for a period of time), and Joseph J. DeAngelis, Jr.
Tyson goes on to discuss the use of DNA and other modern methods of crime detection. He follows that with a discussion of the heinous political regimes that have resorted to serial mass murder as a matter of policy, including Stalinist Russia, Nazi Germany, Mao Zedong's Red China, and Pol Pot's Khmer Rouge Movement in Cambodia.
Joseph Howard Tyson, a resident of Havertown, graduated from Monsignor Bonner High School and LaSalle University in 1969 with a B.A. in Philosophy. Following college, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps. Tyson has contributed several articles to The Schuylkill Valley Journal and is the author of six prior non-fiction books.
