[MEDIA, Pa.] – An artwork by Rose Tree Place resident Carol Staino has been selected from those by hundreds of artists around the country for the 20th anniversary edition of Expressions, a full-color wall calendar celebrating active aging and the arts. Expressions 2020 showcases paintings, photos, woodworking and other creative achievements by artists who reside at more than 50 Watermark retirement communities nationwide.

Staino created “Park Scene,” a crewel embroidery of a house that reminds her of the one her grandmother once lived in. At 83, she believes that she discovered her creative talents in just the past 15 years. At Rose Tree Place, she enjoys pursuing these talents, as well as reading and building friendships.

“The Expressions calendar is more popular than ever as we mark its 20th anniversary,” said David Barnes, Watermark president and CEO. “Our artists’ impressive works show what it means to thrive in retirement. They create a portrait of the possibilities that blossom in communities offering connection with others, exploration and opportunities for personal growth.”
