Penncrest High School Ranked Among PA's Best: U.S. News

Penncrest High School was ranked among the state's top high schools. See how it stacks up to other Delaware County schools here.

MEDIA, PA — Penncrest High School placed among the best high schools in Pennsylvania, according to a new ranking from U.S. News and World Report.

The school ranked 41st overall in the state in the latest ranking, which compares more than 17,800 public high schools nationwide. It was ranked No. 1,176 nationwide, as well.

Penncrest High School was ranked the fourth highest out of all Delaware County high schools, behind Radnor High School at No. 4, Strath Haven High School at No. 16, and Haverford High School at No. 21.

Nearby, Springfield High School was ranked No. 53 and Garnet Valley High School No. 75.

The top 600 included 15 schools from across Pennsylvania. Just two cracked the top 50. The top-ranked Pennsylvania school was Philadelphia's Julia Masterman Academy, coming in at 18th overall. It was followed by Downingtown STEM at 34th; these were the only schools that cracked the top 200 in the national ranking.

The methodology used for this year's ranking focused on six factors: college readiness, reading and math proficiency, reading and math performance, underserved student performance, college curriculum breadth and graduation rates.
