About 100 residents and staff members of Rose Tree Place, a Watermark Retirement Community in Media, Pa., have received the first of a two-dose vaccine against COVID-19. The onsite clinic by Omnicare/CVS launched on Monday, Jan. 25 with 65 residents and 33 associates vaccinated throughout the day. The community has also opened up its COVID-19 vaccine clinics to those who plan to move in soon. The next clinic is scheduled for Monday, Feb. 15.

Rose Tree Place Executive Director Cynthia Evans said excitement was high among residents, who see the clinic as a sign that the community will soon regain much of its vibrancy.

“Our residents have shown admirable resiliency as they have taken significant precautions to keep themselves and one another safe against the virus. They deserve this gift of the vaccine so that they can have more freedom to reconnect with their neighbors and safely return to the activities that once filled their calendars.”

Community Life Director Karen Holahan planned a daylong celebration for residents and associates who received the vaccine, with “Orange Crush Covid” soda and other themed treats. Holahan noted that she cannot wait to get the community’s bus back on the road to take the residents on their favorite excursions, including to her family’s horse farm.

At Monday’s clinic, a registered nurse monitored residents who received the vaccine. Under Watermark's Stay Safe. Be Well. program, staff has been trained to constantly watch residents for symptoms of the disease and will continue to do so regarding response to the vaccine.
