Swinging, Pot Smoking Delco Councilman Will Not Resign
Parkside Borough Councilman at Large Scott Sidlow says he won't resign after his personal life was brought up and criticized.
PARKSIDE BOROUGH, PA — A municipal elected official in Delaware County is not backing down after his personal life was brought up and criticized at a recent virtual meeting.
According to NBC10, Parkside Borough Councilman At Large Scott Sidlow is not stepping down after Council President Shirley Purcival discussed Sidlow's admitted swinging and marijuana using.
"Councilman Sidlow’s admission of illegal drug use within his home, where two children also reside, is unconscionable, a serious breach of public trust and a violation of his oath of office as well as the crimes code of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania," Purcival said, according to NBC10.

However, Sidlow stood by his lifestyle, admitting to swinging with his wife and using marijuana, and said he would not be leaving his role in the borough government.
"This is borough council. We're 2,500 people in this community. What kind of government are we running here? This is ridiculous," Sidlow said, according to Fox 29.

Fox reports Purcival said Sidlow is violating the law — Parkside Borough voted to decriminalize marijuana and Delaware County last year passed an ordinance making marijuana possession a civil matter rather than a criminal matter — and that her faith makes this a moral issue.
