Holy Trinity Catholic School Cross Country Team Runs into Top Place Finishes

ROBINSON TOWNSHIP, PA (September 2016) — Congratulations to the our 60 members of the Holy Trinity School’s Cross Country Team in competing in the Diocesan Cross Country Championship at Coopers Lake, Slippery Rock Pennsylvania this past weekend. There were 1034 runners and 43 teams.

The Holy Trinity JV girls team finished with a 3rd place trophy, led by Chloe Hornyak. The team consisted of Sarah Buzzard, Maria Cicchino, Chloe Hornyak, Kaia Douglass, Karolina Lucas, Kate Mickle, Noelle Miller, Grace Murray, and Samantha Sawayda. The trophy will be proudly displayed in the showcase.

Runners were also given medals for top 30 finishes. Top 30 finishers for Holy Trinity were: Chloe Hornyak, Karolina Lucas, Samantha Sawayda, Kate Mickle, Chiara Golomb, Ryan Gehring, and Luke Baker.

JV boy runner Luke Baker who finished 19th place out of 212 runner

Varsity Girl runner Chiara Golomb finished 13th place out of 179 runners

Varsity Boy runner Ryan Gehring finished 25th out of 171 runners

Open JV girl runner Chloe Hornyak finished 14th out 134 runners

Open JV girl runner Karolina Lucas finished 20th out 134 runners

Open JV girl runner Samantha Sawayda finished 23rd out 134 runners

Open JV girl runner Kate Mickle finished 24th out 134 runners

Holy Trinity Catholic School Team Medalists (out of 43 teams):

JV open boys team finished 11th place led by Lorin Planinsic

JV girls team finished 9th led by Mckinley Walsh

JV boys team finished 8th led by Luke Baker

Varsity Girls team finished 8th led by Chiara Golomb

Varsity Boys team finished 8th led by Ryan Gehring
