Moon Among PA's Safest Municipalities, New Analysis Says

PENNSYLVANIA — Where are Pennsylvania's safest places to live? A new ranking attempts to answer just that.

SafeWise, a security product review platform, has ranked the 10 safest municipalities in the Keystone State based on recent crime statistics and data from the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The organization ranked 50 Pennsylvania cities in 2021 using recent crime statistics and data from the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

According to SafeWise, 136 Pennsylvania communities met the criteria to be considered for the
ranking. Seven of the cities on the list reported no violent crimes and 25 reported fewer than five total violent crimes.

The rankings are intended to highlight cities with low crime rates and to inspire municipalities to talk about how they can make cities safer, according to the SafeWise website.

Southwestern Pennsylvania communities that made the top 50 and their ranking:

• Adams Township, Butler County, 14.

• Penn Township, Butler County, 19.

• Chartiers Township, Washington County, 20.

• Canonsburg, Washington County, 22.

• Upper St. Clair, Allegheny County, 32.

• Baldwin Borough, Allegheny County, 33.

• Elizabeth Borough, Allegheny County, 38.

• Moon, Allegheny County, 42

• North Versailles, Allegheny County, 47.
