Moon Area School Calendar 2017-18: First Day Of School, Vacations, Conferences

The first day of school in Moon Area is August 29. Feel free to mark it on your calendar as one of the most dreaded days of the year for students and teachers — and feel free not to feel guilty about marking it as one of your favorites. The Moon Area School District has released its 2017-2018 calendar for public schools.

The calendar includes important dates such as winter and spring vacations, religious holidays, federal holidays, early dismissals and parent-teacher conferences.

Here is the full list of dates to know for this school year:

• 8/24 - 8/25: Teacher In-Service
• 8/28: Teacher Clerical
• 10/29: First Day of School

September

• 9/4: Labor Day (No School)

October

• 10/9: No School for Students (Parent Conferences 8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.)

November

• 11/7: No School for Students (In-Service Day)
• 11/23 - 11/27: No School (Thanksgiving Break)

December

• 12/22 - 12/29: No School (Winter Break)

January

• 1/1: No School (Winter Break)
• 1/15: No School (Martin Luther King Jr. Day)
• 1/22: No School for Students (Teacher Clerical)

February

• 2/19: No School for Students (In-Service Day)

March

• 3/12: No School for Students (In-Service Day)
• 3/29 - 3/30: No School (Spring Break)

April

• 4/2: No School for Students (In-Service/Clerical Day)

May

• 5/15: No School for Students (Act 80 Day)
• 5/28: No School (Memorial Day)

June

• 6/5: Last Day of School for Students
• 6/6: Last Day of School for Teachers (Half Day)
• 6/8: Graduation
