Moon: Here's Where You Can Drop Off Glass Recyclables

Frustrated that Waste Management no longer will take them? Here's an alternative.

MOON TOWNSHIP, PA - For residents of Pittsburgh’ssuburbs who no longer are permitted to put glass products in their recyclable bins, there’s good news: There’s now a facility where glass recyclables can be disposed of at no charge.

Michael Brothers Recycling on Horning Road in Baldwin is accepting glass products on Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. and Wednesdays from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.

During the initial three-month pilot program, glass can be dropped off at the indoor recycling drive-through area. Those disposing of their glass products must separate it into clear, amber/brown and green colors and place them in the appropriate bin.

Residents of nearly two dozen southwestern Pennsylvania communities with Waste Management refuse contracts no longer are able to place glass products out with their trash. Waste Management stopped accepting glass materials as of Jan.1.

Among the affected communities are Baldwin, Whitehall, Peters, Upper St. Clair and Dormont.
