Moon Native Cameron Johnson Selected In First Round Of NBA Draft
The former University of Pittsburgh and North Carolina player is headed west to begin his professional career.

MOON TOWNSHIP, PA - Moon native Cameron Johnson was selected in the first round of Thursday's NBA draft. He was taken 11th by the Minnesota Timberwolves, but was immediately swapped to the Phoenix Suns.
Johnson is a graduate of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart High School in Moon. He began his college career at the University of Pittsburgh before transferring to North Carolina.
The Suns said they would have no comment on obtaining Johnson until after the NBA year begins on July 6. But many basketball experts questioned the selection, as Johnson was not expected to be drafted so high.

This is an extreme reach for the Suns, who are grabbing a player most teams expected to be available in the 20s here at No. 11," Sports Illustrated's Jeremy Woo wrote. "This is hard to explain—Johnson is one of the draft’s best pure spot-up shooters, but he’s already 23 years old."
"What a stunning move. No one expected him to be this high,"CBS Sports draft evaluators wrote. "Johnson was not even one of the 24 players invited to the official draft green room. This is wild."
