Moon Youth Wrestlers Advance to State Championships

Two Moon Area School District youth wrestlers compete today in the Pennsylvania state championships.
Students Nathan Barcaskey and Nick Acuna today will vie against wrestlers from across the state in the Harrisburg competition.
"They've been preparing for this all year," said Coach Martin Acuna. "They're nervous, but they're ready."

Barcaskey and Acuna advanced to the state finals following a March 17 qualifier at Shaler High School. Wrestlers from 52 area school districts took part in the Shaler competition.
Only the top two wrestlers from the qualifying competition advance to the state finals. Barcasky placed first in the 14 and younger, 167-pounds weight division. Acuna placed second in the 12 and younger, 100-pounds division.

Moon's Luke McConaghy finished in fourth place at the 14 and younger, 157-pounds division, while Frankie Bonura finished in fourth at the 12 and younger, 70-pounds division.
The state competition wraps up Saturday.
