Prosecutors: Tajikistan Man Swapped Vows for Visa

U.S. Attorney's office charges Moon resident with marriage fraud.

A native of Tajikistan who has been living in Moon has been charged with attempting to remain in the United States by marrying a U.S. citizen, according to the U.S. Attorney's office in Pittsburgh.

Mirzodzhon Mirzomatov, 26, of 318 Moon Clinton Road, is charged with marriage fraud and conspiracy, U.S. Attorney David J. Hickton said in a statement. According to a criminal complaint, Mirzomatov married a U.S. citizen under fraudulent purposes in order to obtain permanent residency status.

If he is convicted of these two counts, he could be sentenced to up to 10 years in prison, a fine of $500,000, or both.
