Stoops Ferry Road Bridge Work To Begin In Moon

MOON TOWNSHIP, PA - Prepare for some road-related headaches. A traffic shift will occur on Uly 15 on the Route 51 (Stoops Ferry Road) bridge in Moon, PennDOT announced.
Crews will shift traffic to one side of the bridge for pavement marking installation from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily through July 20 in preparation for a one-month traffic shift while the contractor reconstructs the adjacent roadway.
The work is part of the $3.54 million bridge replacement project which also includes bridge widening with a new left turn lane, a new traffic signal, curb and sidewalk improvements, concrete reconstruction, and roadway resurfacing.

The bridge replacement will use accelerated bridge replacement techniques which will require a 12-day closure with a traffic detour, which is anticipated to occur in late summer or early fall. 9. The roadway and intersection work will utilize long-term phased construction maintaining two lanes of traffic, off-peak lane restrictions and three weekends of single-lane restrictions.
