Man Charged in TV Thefts from Lower Nazareth Walmart

A man is charged with a pair of thefts, totaling nearly $1,000 worth of merchandise from Walmart.

A Pike County man has been charged with twice stealing large televisions from a Lower Nazareth Walmart, authorities said.

Joseph Paul Kennedy, 32,of Bushkill, Pennsylvania, was charged with stealing a 48-inch Sony television, valued at $448, on Dec. 23, 2014, The Express-Times reported. Security footage from the store reportedly shows Kennedy leaving the Walmart through the self-checkout lane with the television in his shopping cart, The Express-Times said.

Kennedy allegedly returned to the Lower Nazareth Walmart on Dec. 27, stealing several more items. According to The Express-Times, Kennedy left the store without paying for sock, t-shirts, a car stereo, Keurig coffee maker and a 24-inch Element television. The merchandise’s total value was $502.

In both instances, Kennedy left in a dark-colored sedan, The Express-Times said.

Kennedy was arraigned on two counts of retail theft and transported to Northampton County Prison on $3,500 bail.
