Nazareth Offers Pool Project Update Monday

The Nazareth Pool Committee will provide report on project for a new pool.

Is the Nazareth pool project going swimmingly?

One month after holding its first meeting, the Nazareth Pool Committee has made such a splash that it will provide an update shortly on the pool project.

The Borough Council has scheduled a special public meeting at 7 p.m. Monday, July 22, at Council Chambers for a report on the pool project.

The eight-member Nazareth Pool Committee is gathering information on what kind of new borough pool should replace the 74-year-old structure which was shuttered this summer.

Councilman Christian Audenried, who chairs the committee, said that pool committee members have been visiting nearby community pools to collect data for the presentation.

It also must be decided whether the old bathhouse will be renovated or replaced. The pool was shut permanently due to structure and safety issues.

Officials have estimated that a new pool could cost over $5 million.

Meanwhile, at its July 1 regular meeting, the Borough Council approved a motion to spend $2,500 with a $220 delivery charge to purchase an insulated trailer on wheels that will be used to store equipment and parts during the pool rebuilding project and then for future use to be determined.
