Equine assisted activities and therapies at Promised Land are conducted by PATH certified instructors Debra Yeager, the center’s founder, and Christina Coxe. Yeager, with over 15 years of experience working with children and adults diagnosed with disabilities and more than 25 years training horses and teaching riding, has a background in psychology and Biblical counseling. Coxe, who holds a degree in Athletic Training, specializes in developmental riding and uses her expertise as an athletic trainer to integrate therapeutic and physical rehabilitation strategies into riding skill development.

Yeager and her team also provide Equine Assisted Therapeutic Yoga (EATY), which integrates mindfulness practices, spirituality, and yoga positioning facilitated by the motion of horses, as well as relationship training programs, a series of life application activities and teaching utilizing Biblical scripture combined with equine assisted learning techniques. These techniques, Yeager explains, incorporate participants working with horses to build, restore, and maintain healthy relationships within, family, marriage, school, and the workplace. Relationship training sessions, she says, can benefit children and adults experiencing social and/or emotional challenges, trauma, and anyone who desires to improve communication and relationships with others and God.
In addition to the therapeutic programs, private and group riding and development lessons are available to children and adults of all abilities, and group / corporate team building packages are available.
Promised Land Equestrian Center’s mission is to “aid in the healing and strengthening of individuals mentally, physically, spiritually, and to promote positive behavioral changes through equine assisted therapy and activities.”
