Acme Screening Room Starts Online Film-Chat Group
The Lambertville theater's Acme Film Club starts next month with a four-week discussion of political comedy movies.
LAMBERTVILLE, NJ — While its theater doors remain closed, the Acme Screening Room in Lambertville is keeping movie lovers engaged with a new film club.
The Acme Film Club is an online film-discussion group. Its first series, "All Politics is Comedy," starts at 6:30 p.m. on Feb. 10.
For four weeks, the group will meet weekly to discuss eight of the best political-comedy movies of all time, comparing and contrasting two of the movies each week.

Standup comedian and former elected official Joey Novick will host the discussions.
On March 11, the club will discuss the classic "All That Heaven Allows" and its remake, "Far From Heaven." Karen Etcoff, one of the casting directors on "Far From Heaven," will lead the discussion.

More groups will be announced in the coming months, Acme said in a news release.
Anyone interested in joining the discussions is asked to register at the Acme Screening Room website. A Zoom link will be emailed to participants the day of the meetings. Acme is asking for a $7 donation to help cover costs, but you may join for free by sending an email to AcmeScreeningRoom@gmail.com.
Participants are asked to watch the movies before the Zoom meeting. Most of the films discussed will be available for free and links will be provided, Acme said.
Located at 25 S. Union St. in Lambertville, Acme Screening Room is a nonprofit, weekend theater that presents classic, independent and documentary films.
