Bucks Co. Wedding Venue Sued By PA Attorney General
Attorney General Josh Shapiro has announced a lawsuit against The Barn at Forestville, a wedding venue in Bucks County.
BUCKS COUNTY, PA — The Pennsylvania Attorney General has filed a lawsuit against a Bucks County wedding and event venue, alleging it accepted reservations and deposits without carrying out the events.
Attorney General Josh Shapiro on Monday announced the 129-page suit against The Barn at Forestville in Buckingham. It has been filed in the Bucks County Court of Common Pleas against Lawrence Plummer Jr. and Karen Plummer, the managing members of the wedding and event venue.
The announcement comes weeks after the Buckingham Township Police Department put out a public statement that they were investigating the venue, located on Forest Grove Road in Furlong.

“The Plummers preyed upon people who were preparing for the most special day of their lives,” Attorney General Shapiro said in announcing the suit. “They vowed to deliver then stole down payments and deposits for weddings, operated an illegitimate business, violated a pre-existing agreement, violated local and state law, and took advantage of those who were acting in good faith.”
A request for comment from the facility was not immediately returned. Plummer previously ordered a television crew off of his property when they inquired about the allegations, Action News reported.

According to information from Shapiro's office, the Plummers were cited two years ago by Buckingham Township for operating the facility without a zoning permit.
Months later, the Plummers entered into an agreement with Buckingham Township to stop using the barn as an event and wedding venue by the following November.
However, the Plummers ignored that agreement and continued accepting reservations, Shapiro said. The website for The Barn at Forestville states the facility can accommodate weddings and events up to 150 people.
The township followed up by suing the Plummers, who in late 2019 were ordered by the courts to stop using the venue.
The Attorney General alleges the Plummers misrepresented to consumers their legal authority to provide services, additionally failing to provide the goods and services after receiving deposits.
The pair also refused to refund money to consumers, the Attorney General alleges.
The lawsuit is seeking restitution, civil penalties, costs, and a permanent injunction that would forbid the Plummers from engaging in event/wedding venue businesses or similar establishments anywhere in Pennsylvania.
Shapiro is asking anyone who believes they were victimized by the Plummer’s business practices to submit an online complaint with the Office of Attorney General’s Bureau of Consumer Protection at www.attorneygeneral.gov/submit-a-complaint/consumer-complaint.
