What’s the buzz in New Hope and Solebury? The Community Buzzathon, a multi-day online event, is about to take flight. Slated for Friday, September 25 through Saturday, October 3, 2020, the Buzzathon is a joint effort by the Board of Trustees and the staff of The Free Library of New Hope & Solebury to engage the community and raise funds for the library.

The Community Buzzathon combines bee-themed virtual programming for all ages with online giving challenges. Programs are free and include The Health Benefits of Honey, Beekeeping 101 presented by The Bucks County Beekeepers Association, Winnie the Pooh Storytime, Build a Bee Condo (S.T.E.A.M. program), Plant a Pollinator Garden with Bowman’s Hill Wildflower Preserve and more.

Three different giving challenge days will also be featured, with “first buzzers” earning mystery swag bags, as well as daily spelling challenges on Facebook.

The Community Buzzathon takes the place of The Free Library’s main fundraising event, the Community Spelling Bee, which has been cancelled for 2020 due to COVID. All proceeds support the operating fund of The Free Library and will help offset lost income from the Spelling Bee, which will hopefully be buzzing back in 2021.

The Buzzathon is sponsored by Addison Wolfe Real Estate, First National Bank & Trust of Newtown, McCaffrey’s Food Markets and Penn Community Bank.
