Concordia ChamberFest 2020

A Virtual Presentation of Music & Nature

The Manzanita Music Collective was born from the desire to share live music with friends. Early in the summer, Concordia's Artistic Director Michelle Djokic invited the versatile violinist Edwin Huizinga to become a "quaranteam" with her and explore all the repertoire for violin and cello and then some! We invite you to watch and listen to the musical telling of these two musicians navigating the difficulties of social distancing while safely bringing live music to small groups of friends on a tiny porch. Young filmmaker Hamilton Hansen collected footage of Michelle and Edwin's efforts and created a documentary of sorts.

Tune in to https://concordiaplayers.org on October 4 at 5:00 PM from the comfort of your own living room. Invite your friends, your family, and anyone you think may enjoy a little music and a lovely story to tune in. Concordia Chamber Players believes that sharing cultural experiences is essential to our well being, giving us food for the soul and a sense of community.

The performance includes arrangements of three Preludes from Bach's Well Tempered Klavier, movements from the notable Duos for violin and cello by Ravel, Kodaly, and Hermann, and the entire Duo by Schulhoff. Enjoy views of the nature that surround the musical duo in the beautiful California setting which was a continual source of inspiration to them.
