Creator of “Sex & The City” Debuts Stage Show In Bucks County
"Is There Still Sex in the City?", written by and starring Candace Bushnell, will begin its world-premiere run next Tuesday in New Hope.

NEW HOPE, PA — “Is There Still Sex in the City?”, a show based on the dynamic life of its writer and star, Candace Bushnell, will debut at the Bucks County Playhouse on June 22 and run for a month. The performance, staged by BCP Artistic Associate Lorin Latarro, will mark the eighth show in the last decade to premiere at the playhouse.
“From her arrival in New York City alone with $20 in her pocket, to working her way up the ladder, to secrets behind the creation of Sex and the City and finding herself single again in her 50’s,” the show’s description reads, “the always provocative Candace Bushnell has a lot to say about sex, feminism, fashion, Cosmopolitans, Manolos, girlfriends, men and New York City!”
Bushnell, a recipient of the Albert Einstein Spirit of Achievement Award and of the 2006 Matrix Award for Books, is a New York Times bestselling author with many writing and producing credits to her name. “Is There Still Sex in the City?” is her latest culture-making endeavor.

"We both share a love of the theatre, and Candace told me she wanted to do a show based on her life,” Producer Marc Johnston told Broadway World. “Before long, she was writing fervently, acting everything for me that she had written that week. … I am thankful that Bucks County Playhouse is giving us the opportunity to bring the show to New Hope, workshop it in front of an audience, and we hope, send it to New York and around the world.”
During the show’s New Hope run, lucky attendees can even enjoy the Girl’s Night VIP package on Tuesday or Thursday, which involves a post-show cocktail meet-and-greet with Bushnell, a coupon for two Candace Cosmos at The Deck Restaurant & Bar, and light snacks. VIP tickets with preferred seating and a drink coupon are also available.

"I'm so excited to share the story of how it all began,” Bushnell said. “How a young woman reinvented her life and in the process created a cultural phenomenon.”
