Cross Culture Expands With 4th Bucks Co. Location

Cross Culture, an Indian restaurant with a booth at the Ferry Market, is now open in Newtown, too.

Cross Culture, an Indian restaurant with a booth at the Ferry Market, will open its fourth Bucks County restaurant restaurant today — Wednesday, Dec. 12.

The newest restaurant for Cross Culture, which also has locations in Doylestown, Buckingham and Princeton, will be in Newtown. Cross Culture, which serves up cuisine from Northern India, has taken over the spot in the Village at Newtown South Shopping Center that formerly housed International Noodles.

Monty Kainth, Cross Culture's founder and executive chef, said the Newtown restaurant will offer a similar menu to that of the other locations. "The menu is focused on Northern Indian Style of cooking highlighting the specialties from the traditional clay oven — tandoor and wide selection of various curries and kormas with varying degrees of spices," Kainth said.

Cross Culture's first Bucks County location was in downtown Doylestown. It has since expanded to Buckingham, and also operates at the Ferry Market in New Hope.

The restaurant consistently receives accolades and glowing reviews from both the public and the press. In 2013, a New York Times food critic called the food "very good" and noted it was prepared with "delicacy."

"Breads — naan, onion kulcha and puri — from the basket I ordered were as good as I have had, each discretely flavored. Raita was house-made, a pleasantly thick yogurt rich with grated cucumber, grated carrot and mint, unlike the runny versions served elsewhere," New York Times restaurant reviewer Karla Cook wrote. Hours of the Newtown restaurant are: Tuesday - Sunday 11:30 to 9 pm, closed Monday. The address is 124 South Eagle Road, Newtown.
