Ex-New Hope Treasurer Pleads Guilty To Theft: Report
She will be sentenced to probation for stealing more than $21,000 over the course of about three years.
NEW HOPE, PA — The former treasurer for New Hope pleaded guilty on Wednesday to stealing more than $21,000 from the borough before she was fired in 2017.
The Intelligencer reports that Janell A. Clements, 56, of Perkasie, pleaded to theft and receiving stolen property for embezzling money deposited with the borough by its police department, from parking kiosks and from residents paying for building and zoning permits.
Clements originally faced felony charges. But they were reduced to first-degree misdemeanors after she agreed to a 36-month probation sentence before Judge Wallace Ha. Bateman, Jr., the paper reported.
