French Bakery Chain To Open First Bucks Co. Location

It's the first of several that are expected to open in Bucks County over the next two years, according to the company.

BUCKS COUNTY, PA — A French pastry chain specializing in macarons will open its first Bucks County shop this spring. Le Macaron French Pastries will be opening in Doylestown sometime in May, the company announced this week.

Le Macaron French Pastries is a franchise, and the Doylestown location marks the first of several that are expected to open in Bucks County over the next two years, according to the company.

The approximately 1,200-square-foot shop will very fun and whimsical inside, franchise owner Louise Lee explained. She's opening the shop with her family; husband Steve and three teenage sons.

The shop's signature product will be the macaron — a French pastry made with high-quality ingredients. It's small, round, and colorful, and will come in more than 20 flavors. Some flavors you can expect include orange Grand Marnier with chocolate, Sicilian pistachio, strawberry key lime, and lavender white chocolate. You can see the full menu here.

Seasonal macaron flavors will be offered and will include gingerbread and pumpkin varieties in the fall, and even a chocolate cherry one around Valentine's Day.

In addition to macarons, the store will other French pastries, including eclairs, Napoleans, and more. They'll also offer a wide variety of gelato flavors, plus an array of coffee drinks.

Steve Lee, a firefighter, previously served in the Air Force followed by a career in IT. Louise, a Montreal native who has lived in Doylestown for about 20 years, previously served as a VP for US Bank.

The couple's three teenage sons, who attend the Central Bucks School District, are excited to be helping with the business, the couple said.

"I’m super excited to bring the unique concept to Doylestown," said Louise Lee, adding she's eager to bring the kind of pastries she fondly remembers eating as a child in Canada to the Doylestown area.

The store will be located at 4 W. Oakland Ave, Doylestown.
