And if you’re personally affected by COVID-19, you can request a “video visit” with a cat of your choice.
In the swirl of sorrow that has engulfed the world, Tabby’s Place has stepped up its efforts to bring hope. Throughout the pandemic, the one-of-a-kind sanctuary is as committed to its human friends as to its feline residents. Fans can count on daily, heart-mending content from Tabby’s Place.
Tabby’s Place has undertaken this mission of joy even as it grapples with the stark effects of the global pandemic on its own operations. As a cage-free, no-kill sanctuary for over 100 homeless felines, with a unique focus on Special Needs cats, Tabby’s Place is an “essential business.” Under normal circumstances, the sanctuary hums with a staff of 13 and over 200 active volunteers, working tirelessly to keep the world-class facility clean, and the cats fed, pampered, and nurtured with exceptional medical care.
But, under New Jersey’s “stay-at-home” order, Tabby’s Place has had to be as flexible as a cat. The sanctuary has suspended nearly all on-site volunteering, with a crew of just 12 people operating in three non-overlapping teams. Doing the daily work of over 200 people is a herculean task – but it’s a labor of love for the cat lovers who keep Tabby’s Place thriving.
Even in its own lean times, Tabby’s Place never forgets that its cats depend on the wider “Tabby’s Place family.” A devoted web of fans, friends and donors has supported Tabby’s Place for the past sixteen years, and Tabby’s Place works every day to nurture those bonds. Through its joyful videos, encouraging blog and steady stream of gleeful cat photos, the sanctuary hopes it may make new friends – and make a healing impact – during this season of fear.
To feast on Tabby’s Place’s joyful offerings, visit the sanctuary’s website, blog, Facebook page, YouTube channel and Instagram. And, if you are fortunate enough to be able to give, please support Tabby’s Place with a donation. (You can donate online or by mailing a check to Tabby's Place at 1100 US Highway 202, Ringoes, NJ, 08551.)
The sanctuary has suffered a decline in support since the global pandemic and associated recession, so donations given right now are truly life-sustaining.
