Lambertville Native Going To Super Bowl With Brother's Ashes

A Lambertville native is going to the Super Bowl and he's bringing an important guest: The ashes of his brother, who died suddenly Dec. 31.

A Lambertville native will be heading to the big game on Sunday, and he's bringing an important guest: The ashes of his brother, who died suddenly on New Year's Eve.

Andrew Immordino, who now lives in California but grew up in Lambertville with his brother, Scott Mantz, will be sitting on the sidelines as the Eagles take on the Patriots.

Mantz suffered a heart attack and died on Dec. 31 at the age of 31, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported. The publication caught wind of a GoFundMe launched by Immordino. The fundraiser sought $2,500 to help get Immordino to Minneapolis to see the game with his brother's ashes.

He and Mantz were best friends, Immordino said on the GoFundMe page. "We shared so many things in common, from music, movies, to sports, he was my role model."

But their biggest passion was the Eagles. "Fly Eagles Fly" was written on Mantz's funeral prayer card.

"As the Philadelphia Eagles are on the brink of the Super Bowl. I would love to get his ashes to the game so he could see his Eagles play in their most important game of the season," the fundraising page said.

Their bond became tight after their mother died in a drinking and driving accident when they were young children. Their father died 11 years later, according to the Inquirer's report.

“He was Superman to me,” Immordino told the publication.

Immordino reached his goal, raising a total of $2,575 by 37 donors.

Mantz was a 2004 South Hunterdon Regional High School graduate, according to his obituary.
