New Hope Eagle Fire Co. Chief Jim Becker, in an interview with the station, said in addition to the four that were rescued by authorities, five swam to safety themselves. He noted that local crews have already rescued 15 people from the river so far this season.

No injuries were reported but officials are warning residents to use caution when they choose to go into the river for recreational activities.

The river is running four feet above normal levels, according to sources. Because of that, the popular Bucks County River Country has implemented some safety measures. All canoers and kayakers should be experienced and tubers should be good swimmers, the business said. Children under eight can only go out in rafts.
