“Ensuring that highly qualified young men and women with a desire to serve are given the opportunity to do so is vitally important,”said Fitzpatrick. “This event honors some of the most talented and promising young people in our community. There are few things more honorable than military service—and the willingness of these 28 individuals to step up, knowing the challenges they will face, is truly admirable. I commend each of them and know wherever their path leads that their futures are bright.”

Service Academy Nominations are recommended to Fitzpatrick by his Nomination Committee which includes active duty, retired military and family members of service academy graduates from across the First District.

“I encourage everyone to pursue military service - yes, there is personal sacrifice involved, but it is also an opportunity unlike any other. As a military member, you will receive training that is second to none in the world and gain responsibility at an age that is incomprehensible to sane people,” said USAF Lt Col Susan DeGiovanni (Ret.) of Solebury, an Air Force Academy graduate and member of Fitzpatrick’s Nomination Committee.
