NEW HOPE, PA — Looking for a theater experience for your children this summer? " Shrek The Musical Jr." opens this month at the Bucks County Playhouse. It is presented by The Playhouse Youth Company.

The production is based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks Animation film and Broadway musical, Shrek. Performances start July 24. Tickets prices begin at $11.25. See full schedule.

"It’s a “big bright beautiful world” as everyone’s favorite ogre, Shrek, leads a cast of fairytale misfits on an adventure to rescue a princess and find true acceptance. Part romance and part twisted fairy tale, Shrek JR. is an irreverently fun show with a powerful message for the whole family," according to information from the theater.

The story follows an ogre named Shrek and his wisecracking donkey in Shrek's quest to rescue feisty princess Fiona. "Shrek tries to win Fiona’s love and vanquish Lord Farquaad, but a fairytale wouldn’t be complete without a few twists and turns along the way."

The show is intended for young audiences but all attendees must be 4 or older.
