3 Bucks Co. YMCAs Offering Child Care For Medical Workers

BUCKS COUNTY, PA — The YMCA of Bucks County is providing child care for essential workers during the coronavirus crisis.

Child care for medical professionals, essential employees and first responders will be available at the Doylestown, Fairless Hills and Quakertown branches. The program began Monday, March 30.

Schools have been closed since March 13 due to the outbreak, which has infected more than 4,800 Pennsylvanians as of Tuesday's data. Gov. Tom Wolf on Monday extended the local Stay at Home restrictions, and said schools will be closed "indefinitely."

The local YMCA received approval from the Department of Human Services to hold the temporary child care service, which is for children in grades Kindergarten to 6th.

Several safety measures will be in place, including fever screenings and social distancing practices. Facilities will be cleaned throughout the program at the end of the day, according to information from the YMCA.
