3 Unaccompanied Veterans To Be Given Final Salute At Washington Crossing Cemetery

WASHINGTON CROSSING, PA ? The public is invited to pay their respects as three veterans are interred Thursday afternoon at Washington Crossing National Cemetery in Upper Makefield.

The Unaccompanied Veterans Service begins at 2 p.m. at the Washington Crossing National Cemetery on Highland Road and Route 532 in Upper Makefield Township.

Unaccompanied services honor veterans who die without family to claim their remains, ensuring they receive a dignified burial with military honors. The service provides a final farewell and a way to honor the sacrifices of the veterans because "no veteran should ever take this last journey alone."

The short, but solemn ceremony includes a flag presentation, rifle salutes, and the playing of Taps. The services emphasize that "no veteran is forgotten and they are honored with the respect they deserve."

Veterans being interred this week include Thomas P. Marsala, SN, U.S. Navy, Vietnam, Bucks County; Bruce G. Stewart, SGT, U.S. Army, Korea, Pennsylvania; and Arthur M. Williams, AN, U.S. Navy, Montgomery County.

All vehicles and motorcycles are invited to participate in a short escort for these veterans from the Washington Crossing National Cemetery Administration building to the Committal Shelter. Line up at the cortege lane before 2 p.m.

Participants are invited to gather at the Committal Shelter for the service.
