The PA School of the Performing Art in Newtown, Bucks County is proud to announce:

NEW ACTING WORKSHOP with PAUL SCHAEFER OF BROADWAY'S THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA! Join us via ZOOM from NYC on Monday nights from 6:45pm-7:45pm to work on the art of the self-tape, learn how to allow yourself to make strong, unique choices that come from the script and who you are, and understand how telling the story can be different on camera than it is on stage.

Teens from all over the world now can join us and zoom! In this fun and upbeat acting class/self-tape workshop, there's the option to work on both theatrical and on-camera development as well as confidence with memorization and performance. Working on the art of the self-tape, how to stand out in your slate, using the frame, making unique and strong choices, and understanding how those choices read differently on camera than they might on stage. This workshop is for teens 13+!

This is an exciting opportunity to dig into building confidence as an actor in a safe and supportive environment and getting more comfortable with self-taping which is the way casting is most often seeing talent during these times for projects on stage and on screen.

ABOUT YOUR TEACHER: Paul Schaefer has been a member of the Broadway cast of The Phantom of the Opera for over a decade. He performs the title role and Raoul on a regular basis. He’s also played in many leading roles in regional houses all over the country. He also takes time to do various guest stars on TV shows and independent films, including “Law and Order” and the recent new ABC show “The Baker and the Beauty.”

Mr. Schaefer is a graduate of the University of Michigan’s Musical Theatre department. He also coaches many different types of classes from audition technique to song interpretation to cold reading work.

Paul’s been a coach for more than a decade to age groups 8-adult, helping actors and singers allow their humanity and individuality to shine through the work. He’s taught on-camera, stage and monologue work, song prep, college audition prep, whatever the student/client needs. He has worked within the class and one-on-one formats, live and virtually. Passionate about helping people find their art.
