Archery Deer Hunt Underway At Tyler Park Through Jan. 28

The designated area is north of the Dairy Hill Trail in the northern portion of Tyler State Park. Hunting is not permitted on Sundays.

Portions of Tyler State Park are now open for an archery deer hunt through Jan. 28.

During the hunt, 500 acres of the state park that spans Newtown and Northampton townships will be open for regulated archery deer hunting by permit only. Hunting is not permitted on Sundays.

Hunting is only allowed in designated areas. The designated area is north of the Dairy Hill Trail in the northern portion of the park.

Maps delineating the hunting and no hunting areas are available at the Park Office.

"The archery hunt will follow all hunting rules and regulations established by the Pennsylvania Game Commission," according to an announcement from the park.

On Dec. 7, Tyler State Park hosted its one-day shotgun deer hunt. The park was closed that day only.

In other park-related news, crews this week will begin removing ash trees damaged by the emerald ash borer, according to BucksLocalNews.com.

Ash trees located in areas of the park that are most often frequented by the public will be removed, the park said.
