Arson Fires Under Investigation At Newtown Township Park
According to Newtown assistant fire chief Nicholas Weaver, there have been three incidents tied to similar circumstances at the park.

NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA -? Fire officials are investigating a series of unusual arson fires that happened over the summer at Roberts Ridge Park in the township.
During his monthly report to the township supervisors, Newtown Fire Chief Glenn Forsyth reported that firefighters had responded to the park at Frost Lane and Dolington Road multiple times.
?We?ve had a couple of fires there that are suspicious so we are working to try to find out who the culprits may be,? reported Forsyth.

He said one of the fires damaged play equipment at the park. Another charred a tree. And a third damaged a pedestrian crossing sign, which was lit on fire, said Weaver.
?They are currently being investigated by our fire marshal?s office and the Newtown Township Police. This an active investigation,? said Weaver, who termed the fires ?unusual.
?That?s why it?s under investigation. We?re working hand in hand with the police department to determine the cause and origin of the fires.?
The fires were each called in to the 9-1-1 system, said Weaver.
If anyone sees anything suspicious or something on fire at the park, call 9-1-1 immediately.
?When in doubt, call 9-1-1. We?d rather come out and check it out to make sure everyone?s okay and safe,? he said.
