Council Rock Cancels Wrestling Tournament Amid Pandemic Concerns

The Escape the Rock Wrestling Tournament, held annually in January since 2005, is one of the nation's premier high school wrestling events.

HOLLAND, PA — A wrestling tournament that attracts the top high school wrestlers in the nation to compete at Council Rock South High School has been canceled due to COVID-19 concerns.

The Escape the Rock Wrestling Tournament, held annually in January since 2005, is one of the nation's premier high school wrestling events.

"After careful consideration and painstaking discussion, we have made the decision to cancel the 2021 Escape the Rock Tournament," tournament director Ed Evans said in a statement. "This has been a very difficult process, taking many factors into account. The health and safety of the wrestlers, coaches, volunteers, staff and fans are certainly at the top of the list. We're hopeful that 2022 will present an environment in which we can move forward with Escape the Rock."
