Council Rock To Consider Quarantine Rules At Thursday Meeting
The Council Rock School Board will consider the quarantine rules for exposed students during a meeting Thursday.
NEWTOWN, PA — The Council Rock School Board will consider the quarantine rules for exposed students during a special board meeting Thursday.
At issue is if the district will opt for the Bucks County-endorsed "modified quarantine" plan, or the rules put forth by the Centers for Disease Control.
The Bucks County Health Department has recommended a "modified quarantine" process for local students who were exposed to the virus but are asymptomatic. Under a modified quarantine, the exposed person must wear a mask at all times and social distance as appropriate, but can attend necessary obligations such as school or work.

The CDC guidelines state those exposed to a person with coronavirus should stay home for 14 days.

Bucks County Health Department Director David Damsker told Patch last week that the modified quarantine procedure, which medical workers and emergency responders have been using since the start of the pandemic, has been "very successful."
He said the county has not documented anyone spreading the virus when they've followed the rules of the modified quarantine.
"Modified quarantine doesn't mean you can go to parties and stuff," Damsker said. It's strictly to allow for the exposed person to attend work and school, or buy groceries and other necessities. A mask must be worn at all times.
