Council Rock North Football Away Games Will Be Streamed Online

When parents of Council Rock North Football players learned they wouldn't be able to attend away games, they found a way to watch virtually.

NEWTOWN, PA — Away games for the Council Rock North Football team will be streamed live on YouTube this season.

A group of students, parents and high school football fans made it happen, says Kathleen Murphy-Shirley. Her son, Vaughn Vanderslice, plays for the team.

When she and other community members learned they wouldn't be able to attend the games due to restrictions on large gatherings during the coronavirus pandemic, they launched a YouTube channel to live stream the games; however, the platform requires a channel to have 1,000 subscribers before being able to live stream.

Through a combination of word of mouth and social media, they were able to reach their goal in three days, Murphy-Shirley said.

The Council Rock North Indians will travel to Bensalem Friday to take on the Fighting Owls. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. Go here to watch it live on the BHS YouTube channel.
