Council Rock North, Welch Elementary Get New Principals

NEWTOWN, PA — The Council Rock School Board approved the hiring of two new principals at its meeting Thursday.

Jason Traczykiewicz was named the next principal of Council Rock High School North, with a start date of July 1. He replaces Susan McCarthy, who retired after a 48-year career with the district, her first as an English teacher in 1973.

He holds a bachelor's degree in general science, master's degree in education, and an educational leadership certification, as well as certifications in the areas of general science, biology, and as a principal for K-12 schools, the district said. He came to the district in 2003 as a science teacher and also coaches baseball teams for the Warwick Township Little League.

Jim Vacca will assume his role as principal of Welch Elementary School on July 1. He replaces Rebecca Grimm, who retired after a nearly 30-year career with the district.

An interim principal at Hillcrest Elementary School, Vacca has been with the district since 2002 and has taught grades six, gifted support for second through sixth grades, and served as the lead teacher at Hillcrest for the past 12 years. He holds bachelor's and master's degrees in education and certifications for elementary K-6 and principal K-12.
