Council Rock School Board To Vote On Nixing Virtual Wednesdays
A majority of the Council Rock School Board has expressed support for eliminating virtual-only Wednesdays at the K-6 grade level.
NEWTOWN, PA — The Council Rock School Board is expected to vote to eliminate virtual Wednesdays at the K-6 grade level at its Thursday meeting, paving the way for five-day -in person learning in its elementary schools at the start of the fourth marking period.
Since Jan. 11, elementary students in the Council Rock School District have had the option of attending school in person for four days a week — with the exception of Wednesday, which has been only a virtual-only day of learning — or enrolling in virtual-only learning.
A majority of school board members have expressed support for allowing children to return to school five days a week, citing declining COVID-19 case numbers in Bucks County coupled with an increasing number of failing students at all grade levels.

The board will vote on the measure during a special meeting Thursday, where it is also expected to discuss the district's plans for a senior trip to Disney World in Orlando, Florida, as well as a resolution to call on state lawmakers to revise its formula for charter school funding to ease the funding burden on public school districts and local taxpayers.
Council Rock School Board meetings are streamed live on the district's YouTube channel and archived for later viewing. Meeting agendas can be found here.
