Council Rock Students Plan Virtual 5K To Benefit Food Pantry

NEWTOWN, PA —Council Rock North students are working to help feed the hungry within the local community.

The school's S.H.A.R.E.(Students Helping Area Residents) organization will hold a virtual 5K fundraiser for the Wrightstown Food Cupboard.

The virtual event is Sept. 26 event, which coincides with Hunger Awareness Month.

"It would be great to have our community come together to bring attention to this important cause, which has only been exacerbated by the COVID crisis, while also participating in a fun, heart-healthy (and socially distant!) activity," organizer Katie Daniels shared on Patch.

All donations will go towards the Wrightstown Food Cupboard, which provides food for families in need who live in the Newtown and Wrightstown area.

To show your support, you can participate in a 5K or 1-mile run or walk on that day. Participants can do the race run or walk anywhere. T-shirts are also for sale. Organizers are asking participants to take pictures of themselves wearing the t-shirts after their run or walk, and share the images on social media.
