Driver Crashes, Revived With Narcan In Upper Makefield: Police

A Philadelphia man overdosed on opiates and struck a light pole with his pickup truck in Upper Makefield last week, police said.

UPPER MAKEFIELD TOWNSHIP, PA — Police have filed criminal charges against a man who they say was high on opiates when his pickup truck veered off the road and struck a light pole in Upper Makefield Township.

Rocko Marchiano, 33, of Philadelphia, crashed his truck at the Route 532 and Lindenhurst Road intersection around 8:30 a.m. on April 26, according to the Upper Makefield Township Police Department.

A witness reported the crash and responding officers administered two doses of Narcan to the driver after they discovered a fresh injection site on his left forearm, police said.

Upon awakening, Marchiano refused further medical treatment and failed to satisfactorily pass field sobriety tests, police said. Officers also found drugs and paraphernalia in the vehicle, authorities said.

He was charged with misdemeanors of driving under the influence, possession of a controlled substance, and use of drug paraphernalia, along with a traffic summary offense.

A hearing in the case is scheduled for June 14.
