NEWTOWN, PA ? Kelly Anne Troy, who opened Greenstraw Smoothies 11 years ago on North Sycamore Street, passed the torch to a new owner on Tuesday who has big plans for the business.

?With a heart full of gratitude, I want to express my deepest thanks to this community that has been the backbone of our healthy journey for the past almost 11 years,? Troy wrote on Facebook. ?My vision was to help bring truly health-supporting foods to our local community. Today, I pass this torch to new owners, but not before saying thank you for making my dream a reality.?

Looking to establish a healthy "on the go" alternative, Troy opened Greenstraws around 11 years ago using smoothie recipes she and her husband developed in their kitchen. They called their new venture "Greenstraw Smoothies" after "the greens in your straw" and adopted the tag line, "Better ingredients for better health."

Troy said the community?s ?unwavering support, trust, and smiles have been the driving force behind the success of the store,? which specializes in healthy juices; award winning green, fruit, specialty, and seasonal smoothies; acai, pitaya, oatmeal, and banana whip bowls; soups and sandwiches, and snacks. ?From the early days to now, your encouragement has fueled our growth and created a thriving hub for health."

Today (Wednesday), Council Rock graduate and Newtown native Dhruv Patel is taking over the operations at the store, building on the work of Troy and her family. He has big plans to expand the business into a vegan cafe. Patch will be sharing Patel?s exciting new vision for the store in an upcoming article.

?As I bid farewell, I carry with me fond memories of victories, challenges overcome (COVID-19, for one), and the friendships forged,? wrote Troy. ?I?m confident the new owners will continue the legacy of community and well-being.

?To each one of you, you?ve been more than customers; you?ve been friends,? wrote Troy. ?Thank you for being the foundation of our dream. Here?s to your continued health, happiness, and prosperity.?
