'He Has A Big Heart For Newtown': Meet A Local Hero

NEWTOWN, PA — When times are tough, heroes emerge. We all know someone who's making a difference right now as we live through unprecedented and changing times.

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these heroes making a difference in their communities. Together with Ring, we're working to let all your neighbors know about these outstanding people and their stories.

This submission comes from Gerald Couch, who nominated Judge Michael Petrucci of Newtown.

Here's what he has to say:

Name: Judge Michael Petrucci

Hero's job: He is a local Judge

Relationship to nominee: I worked with him on community projects.

Reason for recognition: He does a lot for local causes. He works with Newtown Business Association for the Holiday Parade as an MC. Worked with me on Santa visits to Homeless Shelter, works with young people coming through his court. Works with police and schools and the community to help kids.

One thing to know: He has a big heart for Newtown, If he can help he does! He's involved in the Rotary, is an NBA past president, and a Constable
