High Winds, Power Outages Possible Thursday In Eastern PA

EASTERN PENNSYLVANIA — High winds capable of knocking down trees and power lines are expected throughout the Philadelphia region Thursday.

The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook, saying winds may gust near 45 mph throughout the day and into early evening.

The winds have already caused some travel issues in the area, including in Solebury Township where a portion of Sugan Road is closed due to a downed tree.

The high winds should taper off later tonight. By Friday, expect sunshine with a high near 40.

As of 8:30 a.m., PECO was reporting just a few hundred outages.

Tonight: Mostly clear, with a low around 26. Breezy, with a west wind 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.

Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 40. West wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.

Friday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 24. West wind 5 to 10 mph.

Saturday: Partly sunny, with a high near 36. West wind 10 to 15 mph.

Saturday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 23.

Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 40.
