New COVID Death In Bucks Co., 48-Year-Old Hospitalized Since May

Bucks County has provided an update on local cases: one new death was reported. The 48-year-old had been hospitalized since May.

BUCKS COUNTY, PA — Bucks County has provided an update on coronavirus cases this week. The county averaged 26 new COVID-19 cases per day over the past three days, as the infection rate continued to stabilize, health officials said. Of the 77 cases reported from Tuesday through Thursday, seven were delayed reports no longer considered to be infectious.

One new death was reported: a 48-year-old resident who had been hospitalized outside of Bucks County with COVID complications since late May. "It was not known if he had underlying health conditions," the Bucks County Department of Health said.

Five Bucks County residents have died from COVID-19 so far in August. A total of 518 deaths have been attributed to the virus, including 411 long-term care residents.

Of the newest cases reported this week, 36 were infected by household contacts, 18 were attributed to community spread, five were infected out of state, five are residents or employees of longterm care facilities, three were infected at other workplaces, and 10 did not complete a full interview immediately.

Bucks County now has had 7,079 residents test positive for COVID-19 during the pandemic. Of those, 6,264 are confirmed to have recovered. The median age of those who have been infected in Bucks is 52, while the median age of death is 82.

There are 10 people from Bucks County hospitalized for the virus. Two are in critical condition and on ventilators.
