Newtown Area Police Holding 'Shop With A Cop' Event

Police anticipate more than 60 children from the Council Rock School District will participate in the event.

NEWTOWN, PA — Newtown area police departments are teaming up for the third annual Shop With A Cop event.

Police officers from Newtown Township, Newtown Borough and Upper Makefield Township will participate in the event. They anticipate over 60 children from the Council Rock School District will be registered this year.

Shop With A Cop is a national program that pairs police officers with children in an effort to foster better relationships between youth and officers. The local Newtown program is funded through community and business donations, while volunteers assist with gift wrapping, hosting and registration.

This year's event will take place at the Target on Route 1 in Middletown Township. All participants are required to wear masks, and parents or guardians of will be required to complete a questionnaire regarding COVID-19 symptoms of their child.
