Newtown Twp Declares Snow Emergency
A snow emergency goes into effect at noon Wednesday in Newtown Township. Cars cannot be parked on the street.
NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — A snow emergency has been declared in Newtown Township starting at noon on Wednesday. The snow emergency, which goes through 6 p.m. Thursday, means cars cannot be parked on any township roadway.
Wednesday is expected to bring the "most impactful winter weather in several years" to the Philadelphia region, according to forecasters with the National Weather Service.
A 24-hour winter storm warning begins Wednesday morning. The storm could drop nearly 2 feet of snow on some parts of Eastern Pennsylvania, with the Philadelphia region slated to get anywhere from 6 to 18 inches of snow. The Poconos could see 24 inches, according to the Tuesday evening briefing from the National Weather Service.
