Newtown Woman Reports Possible Case of Identity Theft

The Internal Revenue Service is investigating a possible case of identity theft and tax fraud after a Newtown woman reported an unknown person using her name for potential financial gain.

Newtown Police say a woman came to headquarters to report that someone has been using her personal information and attempting to open a credit card account.

The woman also received written notifications from the IRS that a joint tax return was filed with her name along with an unknown make.
