Patch Heroes: Newtown Teacher Goes Above And Beyond For Students

NEWTOWN, PA—When times are tough, heroes emerge. We all know someone who's making a difference right now as we live through unprecedented and changing times.

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these heroes making a difference in their communities. Together with Ring, we're working to let all your neighbors know about these outstanding people and their stories.

This submission comes from Paula Goldberg who nominated her daughter-in-law, Lydia Fennen Goldberg of Newtown. Lydia is a special education teacher who goes above and beyond to educate her students - even during a pandemic.

Reason for recognition: Her dedication to her students is over the top. She spends her own money on extras for these extra special students, she initiated a fundraiser to outfit her classroom to better fit their needs. She works extra hours to create innovative ideas. One thing to know: She kept up when schools were shut down in difficult circumstances for her students. She even rode by their houses so they could see her.
